Program/Intervention Description
The Together Facing the Challenge Intervention was Designed to: Strengthen the relationship between agency staff, and treatment parent as well as between treatment, parent and child, Increase treatment parent skills, knowledge, and competence in the general areas of behavior management and, Enhance agency staff ability to adequately support and guide these efforts.
Intervention Target Population Identified (Age Group)
13-17, Parent/Adult, 0-5, 6-12
Program Goals/Outcomes
On the three focal outcomes/symptoms, problem behaviors, and strengths the enhanced model showed significant improvements over usual care TFC, particularly at six months, when most youth were still in TFC. Although these results are promising, it should be recognized that the level of change seen in any individual outcome is in the small to moderate range. The preponderance of evidence across multiple outcomes all in favor of the intervention group bolsters support for the intervention. Additional work is needed to fully understand the decrease in effects of the intervention by 12 months for two of the outcomes.
