Program/Intervention Description
Healing Homes is a treatment foster home program. Foster parents are trained in trauma informed parenting, grief and loss work and the importance of establishing permanency connections for youth in placement. Parents focus on understanding the pain and trauma causing the behavior and respond with trauma sensitive interventions. As a component of healing the relational trauma, focus on understanding trauma history and building networks of support. Focus on (1) Connections; (2) Protective capacity that enhances child's sense of safety from further harm; (3) Grief work-foster parents are a partner in the trauma work (4) Regulating-Integrative healing that may include equine assisted therapy, yoga, or meditation.
